Dr. Esmail Elwazir

Originally from Florence, Italy, Dr. Esmail Elwazir began his education at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan where he earned a Bachelor of Science (with high honors) with a double major of microbiology and physiology. His medical degree was obtained at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York in 1992. Dr. Elwazir completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts in 1995 and his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in 1999. Dr. Elwazir is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and joined Texas Digestive Disease Consultants in 1999. Dr. Elwazir's special interests in gastroenterology include colon cancer screening and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. His personal interests outside of the office include cycling, sailing, and traveling. Dr. Elwazir is proficient in several languages including English, German, and Arabic. He is conversant in Italian and Spanish.
