Dr. Daniel A. Friedman

Dr. Daniel A. Friedman was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He lettered in basketball and baseball at Ben Franklin High School. He was an undergraduate at The University of Texas in Austin, where he earned his degree in Biology. He joined the Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity in his freshman year at UT. Dr. Friedman was a member of the Mortar Board Honor Society, as well as President of the College of Natural Sciences Student Council during his senior year.

He returned to New Orleans to attend medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine, where he received the McGraw-Hill Book Award as Top Student in the First Year Class, 1997, and the Norma Ragland Memorial Academic Achievement Award in 2000. Dr. Friedman was awarded two scholarships while attending medical school; the Hotel Dieu Medical Staff Scholarship in 1997 and the St. Claude Medical Foundation Scholarship in 1998. He was Alpha Omega Alpha during his Junior year in 1999. He graduated with his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2000.

Dr. Friedman chose to continue his educational career at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas for his internship and residency in Internal Medicine, and achieving his board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2003. He completed his education with his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Southwestern Medical School in 2007.

During his Fellowship Dr. Friedman was a presenter at the North America Conference of GI Fellows in 2007, and an earlier Presenter at the ACG Fellows Forum in 2006. He made a poster presentation at the prestigious Digestive Disease Week, held in Washington D.C., in 2007.

Dr. Friedman joined Texas Digestive Disease Consultants after completing his Gastroenterology Fellowship in June, 2007. His extensive training and enthusiasm for medicine makes him a welcome addition to the Plano office.
