Mesquite | Dr. German A. Oliver Dr. German A. Oliver was born in Madrid, Spain and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Puerto Rico, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He was listed on the National Dean’s List in 1980 and elected to the Beta Beta Beta Biology Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society.
Dr. Oliver completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine, and his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, graduating in 1985. He received the Physicians in Training Research Award presented by the William Beaumont Gastrointestinal Symposium in 1985. He served as a staff gastroenterologist from 1985 to 1988 at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. In 1988, Dr. Oliver and his family moved to Dallas, where he helped found Texas Gastrointestinal Associates and began private practice. He served as president for several years until January 1, 2009, when he and his partners joined Texas Digestive Disease Consultants.
Dr. Oliver is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is an active member of the American College of Physicians, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the Texas Medical Society. He has enjoyed teaching fellows at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and at Southwestern Medical School. His areas of special interest include colorectal cancer prevention and gastro-esophageal reflux disease. He is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Oliver enjoys spending time with his family, travelling the world, and listening to opera. |
