Dr. Raj Putcha Dr. Rajesh Putcha obtained his Bachelor of Science with University Honors in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1992. His Doctorate of Medicine was obtained from the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida in 1996. He credits his initial interest in Gastroenterology to his mentors in medical school.
Dr. Putcha's internship and residency in Internal Medicine were completed at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology in the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases at the same institution. Dr. Putcha is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
He is a member of several national and local professional organizations including the American Medical Association, American Gastroenterology Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.
Dr. Putcha is Chief of Medicine and Family Practice at the Medical Center of McKinney and is on the Medical Executive Committee. He has been selected by the American Board of Internal Medicine to be a Relevance Reviewer for the Gastroenterology Board Examination since 2003. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Putcha's special interests include colon cancer screening, acid reflux, inflammatory bowel disease, and management of pancreaticobiliary disorders. He performs a wide variety of endoscopic procedures including wireless small bowel capsule endoscopy (the "PILLCAM"), and he performs advanced endoscopic procedures.
Outside of work, Dr. Putcha enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports, going to the movies, and sketching.
